Rules

The competition will be held in accordance to AIDA Rules. Rules. Athletes will compete in the following disciplines:

  • Constant weight
  • Constant weight with bifins
  • Free immersion
  • Constant weight without fins

The competition layout is: 2 competition days, 1 day-off, 2 competition days (4 competition days in total).

Each competitor can compete in one discipline per day (the athlete may choose the same discipline in all competition days). On the morning of the given day, the competitors are expected to state the discipline they want to participate in or that they wish to skip the day.

The winner is the athlete obtaining the most points in a given discipline (there are different rankings for all disciplines, and no ‘general ranking’). In the case of an equal number of points (performance minus penalties), the competitor which takes the higher position is the one who got less penalties.

If in any discipline only one athlete of a given sex is classified, male and female athletes will be classified together. If less than four athletes are classified in any discipline, the prize for the athlete with the lowest number of points will not be given (e.g. if there are only two athletes classified, only the prize for the first place will be given).

If this rule doesn’t bring the conclusion, the competitors with equal points shall share the given position, with no competitor taking the next highest position.

Each performance is converted into points according to the following scale:

1 meter in depth = 1.0 point

The performance is rounded down to the nearest point.

Example: 46,7 meters in CWT = 46 points

Max. depth: 90 meters.

There are 20 spots for competitors.

Accomodation

Hańcza lake the deepest lake in Poland and on the European Lowland, with maximum depth of 108.5 m. It’s a postglacial channel lake, a nature reserve.

The water in Hancza is crystal-clear, the visibility is 5-12 meters depending on the depth and weather. Water temperature just below the surface is typically 20-24C, but it decreases rapidly at ~8m to as low as 4C. All athletes are required to use a diving light since it’s completely dark below ~35m.

This year we invite you to a new location – right in the middle of the Suwalski Landskape Park.

Guest House run by Marcinkiewicz’s

offers double, triple and 4-person rooms, guest can order home-made meals: breakfast, early dinner, dinner etc.

The Guest House is situated in a beautiful, spacious area with the breath-taking view over Hańcza lake. An additional advantage of this location is the close proximity to the great depths.

More details about the location/accommodation and contact details can be found here.
